Unfortunately, the pandemic is still ongoing, and sadly, the number of COVID-19 cases is still rising here in Yonkers. However, there has been lot of progress in regards to the vaccine and its distribution. As of March 20th, 5 million New Yorkers have received at least one vaccine dose, and 2.6 million have received both doses. Furthermore, Governor Cuomo announced that starting this week, New Yorkers 50 years of age and older became eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. He also passed a law bill S.2588-A/A.3354-B, granting public employees four hours of paid time off to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
In addition, Westchester County is offering free transportation service to senior citizens and disabled residents who are not registered with ParaTransit, but who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The transportation service is not limited to County-run vaccination sites only; any senior citizen or disabled person may use the service for any location, including appointments at local pharmacies. If you would like to take advantage of the transportation service, call ParaTransit at (914) 995-7272 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to make a reservation, 24 hours prior to your vaccination date.
Please stay safe everyone! |
