Reaching out to the Governor's office to complain about Pharmacies that are not honoring Governor's directive to help those who are eligible to receive vaccine.
Last week the Governor announced that those who are under 65 years old but who have medical problems (comorbidities) are eligible for the vaccine. Appointments were made by residents and volunteers but ARE NOT BEING honored by CVS and Walgreen's. This is ridiculous. Those under 65 who have medical problems deserve the vaccine just like those who are over 65 and are healthier. I am reaching out to the Governor's office -hoping that the state will direct all pharmacies to offer vaccines to everyone eligible to receive them.
Two emails below highlight the problem-- I deleted names to protect their privacy but have received other calls as well.

I am writing to bring to your attention my experience with trying to secure COVID-19 vaccination appointments at the Walgreens located at 11 Ashford Avenue in Dobbs Ferry.
In brief, I have a documented developmental disability -- Larsen syndrome -- and thus meet the current vaccination eligibility requirements per Governor Cuomo's decree of February 5, 2021. I was able to schedule two appointments to be vaccinated at the aforementioned Walgreens -- one for each dose, one month apart -- which were ultimately canceled by Walgreens on the grounds that I did not meet the age requirements (65+) under the company's policy. I subsequently called Walgreens and spoke to a representative who told me that they are following CDC guidelines and not state eligibility rules.
I am failing to understand how Walgreens's policy can supersede our governor's directive.
Is there anything your office can do to help me secure new vaccination appointments at this particular Walgreens store, and to keep this from happening to other intellectually or developmentally disabled residents of our town?
