Here’s what we’re reading this week:
Renewable Energy Projects Announced at State of the State Address: Last week, Governor Andrew Cuomo gave his annual State of the State address and included several NYLCV priorities that we are eager to work with the Governor to enact, including the largest procurement of renewable energy, including offshore wind, in the country, and continued support for electrification of transit buses.

In an op-ed, our president pushes for expanded clean transportation options including micromobility and investments in public transit. The transportation sector is the largest contributor to climate pollution in the state. (Streetsblog NYC)

A bill in the State Legislature by Senator Kaminksy and Assemblyman Englebright would hold manufacturers accountable for paying to recycle their packaging waste. This policy - one of NYLCV’s priorities - would help to address a significant environmental and budgetary burden placed on local governments. (Newsday)
The Oswego County Legislature voted in favor of a 5 megawatt community solar farm in Volney. (Watertown Daily Times)

The President George Washington-commissioned Montauk Lighthouse on Long Island will soon be restored and protected from erosion as part of a $30 million project beginning this spring. (East End Beacon)
