Yonkers Insider: Election 2020 Campaign Trail: Survey: See What Harckham No-Cash-Bail Allows; Weigh In.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SURVEY: HUDSON VALLEY VOTERS TOLD WHAT HARCKHAM NO-CASH-BAIL ALLOWS; ASKED TO WEIGH IN ON DAILY VOICE.

Hudson Valley-Oct. 1…

State Senator Peter Harckham’s absurd (and highly dangerous) no-cash-bail law is the subject of a new, Daily Voice online survey sponsored by the campaign of former two-term Westchester county executive and state senate candidate Rob Astorino, it was announced today.

The survey presents readers with just a few of the crimes now eligible for no-cash-bail under the Harckham law, and requests reader input.

The survey, available for viewing at dailyvoice.com, reads:

State Senator Peter Harckham’s controversial no-cash-bail law allows the immediate release of career criminals for crimes including: Criminal possession of a gun on school grounds; Criminal sale of a controlled substance on/near school grounds; Criminal sale of a firearm to a minor; Patronizing a person for prostitution in a school zone; Failure to register as a sex offender; Promoting or possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child; Animal torture; Arson in the third and fourth degree, and Manslaughter in the second degree. Rob Astorino wants immediate repeal of the Harckham no-cash-bail law. Do you:

Agree with Peter Harckham’s no-cash-bail law

Agree with Rob Astorino’s plan to repeal no-cash-bail

Neither

“It’s impossible to imagine that voters would agree with Peter Harckham’s no-cash-bail law when they see what it allows because it’s impossible to imagine that the legislation was passed in Albany in the first place,” Mr. Astorino said. “But this is what’s happening under one-party rule in Albany now; faddish, radical ideas are getting pushed through the Legislature without proper check-and-balance debate. There may be no better example of this than no-cash-bail, which has been repeatedly cited by law enforcement officials as the cause of New York’s growing crime wave. Repealing no-cash-bail will be my number-one public safety goal in the state senate next year. A healthy balance of opinion must be restored in state government.”
