Yonkers Insider: Town of Greenburgh Update.
About 3,000 residents out of power--list of streets in unicorporated Greenburgh -many more in villages. Earlier this afternoon 2,900 Con Ed in Greenburgh were without power.
A Con Ed Field Representative is on site at Police HQ, Emergency Operation’s Center which is staffed by police officers providing up to date information to Police and DPW and Con Ed units in the field.
The following roadways were closed as of 3 PM due to downed trees and wires. There are probably other streets with power outages. I'm currently writing this in front of a Starbucks where I have internet capability (since my house is also without power) and am trying to respond to the many e mails and phone calls I have been receiving. I spoke with the Police Chief and Commissioner of Public Works.
Con Ed has assigned crews to Greenburgh. First, they had to wait till the winds died down. Than crews remove trees blocking roads. And finally restoration of power begins. Sorry for the inconveniences.
Although we're all upset when we lose power, internet connections, air conditioning - it could be worst. In Queens, today, a tree fell onto parked vehicle killing a man. The winds were very strong today - it was very dangerous. Be safe.
