FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NEW YORK STATE TROOPERS PBA ENDORSES
ASTORINO FOR STATE SENATE.
“The crime wave that is ravishing NYC currently because of misplaced police reform legislation will soon creep into the suburbs.”
Hudson Valley-Sept. 2...
The Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers has endorsed former two-term Westchester county executive Rob Astorino for New York State’s 40th District, which includes parts of Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties, it was today announced.
In its announcement endorsing Mr. Astorino for state senate, State Troopers PBA President Thomas H. Mungeer warned that the New York City crime wave caused by “misplaced” legislation in Albany will invariably move to the suburbs if corrective action is not taken.
“We need individuals like Rob Astorino in leadership positions to help law enforcement officers better serve the residents of New York State,” NYSTPBA President Mungeer said. “The crime wave that is ravishing NYC currently because of misplaced police reform legislation will soon creep into the suburbs.”
Former county executive Astorino — and three New York City police commissioners — have cited the cashless bail legislation sponsored by State Senator Peter Harckham, against whom Mr. Astorino is running, as a major catalyst of the crime wave New York is currently experiencing.
“I am deeply grateful to the State Troopers PBA for this endorsement, and for their constant vigilance in behalf of Hudson Valley families,” Mr. Astorino said. “Public safety is the bedrock of healthy, stable communities, and current legislators in Albany have inexplicably forgotten that in the false name of progress. As state senator, I will fight to give law enforcement officials the common-sense tools they need to keep every New Yorker and every New York community safe.”
More than 6,000 active and retired uniformed members of the New York State Police from the rank of Trooper through the rank of Major are represented by the NYSTPBA.
