WESTCHESTER COUNTY EXECUTIVE GEORGE LATIMER HOSTS FACEBOOK LIVE DISCUSSION ON THE COUNTY’S RESPONSE TO CENSUS 2020.
Westchester County releases new Census Commercials in English and Spanish.
(White Plains, NY) – Westchester County Executive George Latimer will be joined by Department of Planning Commissioner Norma Drummond, and Assistant to the County Executive Blanca Lopez for a Facebook LIVE discussion on the County’s response to the 2020 Census.
Thursday, July 16
10 a.m.
Latimer will discuss Westchester County’s overall response rate thus far in the 2020 Census, as well as new initiatives the County is undertaking to achieve an accurate count in the Census.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Census Bureau has extended the deadline to complete the Census to October 31, 2020, and County Executive George Latimer is asking all residents to help Westchester get counted. Westchester County Government has created new Census commercials in English and in Spanish built around the current response rate of approximately 60% of the county’s housing units. The commercials will be airing on local media, to encourage everyone to participate in the 2020 Census.
Latimer said: “We understand that our focus may have shifted these past few months in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. But, it is still critical that all Westchester County residents participate in the 2020 Census. Filling out your Census form only takes a few minutes, and the potential loss of dollars and representation is what is at stake here. Please help Westchester County by partaking in the 2020 Census.”
There is still time to fill out your household U.S. Census form, and Westchester County depends on it. An accurate count enables Westchester County to receive billions of dollars in state and federal funding that is allocated based on population, and can be used for our schools, infrastructure, roads, hospitals, fire departments and after school programs.
The Census is quick and easy to fill out, and help is available in multiple languages. For more information, visit Westchester County’s Census Website, www.my2020census.gov or call (914) 995-2900. If you have not received a letter from the Census Bureau, call 844-330-2020 to participate.
