Friend,
The global pandemic that shocked the world created many challenges for our city. However, we are overcoming it together, and you are doing so in a way that shows you have the fortitude and commitment to keeping yourself, family, and community safe during the toughest period in many of our lifetimes.
As we see the number of cases in Yonkers reach record lows, businesses reopening, it's essential to keep in mind what has gotten us to this point.
Remember, wearing a mask shows your respect for others, especially when it's near impossible to be socially distant.
Also, there has been much speculation about what the school year will look like for our Yonkers Schools students. Please know I have been in constant communication with Superintendent, Dr. Edwin Quezada, and the Governor's Office. Working hand in hand with the schools and PTA, we will soon put forth a plan to New York State with feedback from the community – especially our parents and students. As always, I will share information as it becomes available from the State.
I hope you enjoy the rest of this beautiful weekend.
Be well, stay safe, and please, if you have questions concerns, or simply to say hello, please call my office at (914) 377-6300 or email me at yonkersmayor@yonkersny.gov.
All the best,
MIKE SPANO
Mayor
