NYC Council Member - Ydanis Rodriguez.
Dear Friend and Neighbor,
As we weather the impact of the COVID-19 health crisis, we continue working to provide New Yorkers with the support they need to stay afloat. Resources are especially crucial to our communities of color, who continue facing entreched social inequalities that make them especially vulnerable to this pandemic and that have directly contributed to their increased suffering and loss.
During these difficult times, low-income, Latino, and Black students need all the financial support they can get. This is why the SYEP program remains more critical than ever, as it provides students with an opportunity to learn valuable work-place experience while receiving a source of income. The SYEP program will ensure students are using the summer months in a productive manner while also receiving compensation for their work.
We fought hard at the Council to make sure we restored the funding for the SYEP Program. We must now make sure all students who are eligible, apply and start learning valuable skills. Below you will find the requirements and the link to apply to the SYEP Program, which closes by the end of day today.
