Across the country there has been an uptick in illegal fireworks being used.

Happening almost every night for weeks all-over Yonkers, a barrage of loud fireworks has been disturbing residents and has become a significant nuisance.

Yonkers, I heard your cry for help.

Under my direction, the Yonkers Police Department will continue to crack down on illegal firework use, sale, and storing of large amounts.

This week, Yonkers finest made yet another illegal fireworks arrest, with 28 cases seized and a total value of $10,000.

My priority is and will continue to be protecting the quality of life of all our residents. If you see illegal firework activity, please, I implore you to call the Yonkers Police Department's Non-Emergency Number at (914) 377-7900.

We all have the right to enjoy ourselves, but let's do so respectfully and safely.
