NEW YORK - Praising his record for working for Americans with disabilities, the 504 Democratic Club has endorsed Congressman Eliot Engel for reelection, and urged its membership to support him in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary.
The 504 Democratic Club is a NYC-based coalition of Democrats working towards inclusion of people with disabilities in the political and social fabric of society. “In the fight for disability rights, Congressman Engel has been a true and trusted ally for decades,” said Michael J. Schweinsburg, President of the 504 Democratic Club. “He stood with us while few others evidenced his consistent dedication to the struggle for our civil rights. The leadership positions he has attained will bring great benefit for his constituents, the Bronx, our city and the country. We respect his opponents but with all that needs to be done to cure the ills of the current administration, now is not the time to trade the Congressman's outstanding breadth of experience for fresh untried ideals.” Congressman Engel has long been a proponent of fully funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and has battled corporate interests and Republicans who seek to undermine the Americans with Disabilities Act, while also fully funding services for disabled veterans. “This is one of the great causes in America - making sure that our friends with disabilities have full access to the rights and services they deserve,” said Congressman Engel. “I’m deeply honored to be supported by the 504 Democratic Club.” |
