ABINANTI: LEGISLATURE TO MEET TO PASS COVID-19 RESPONSE LAWS.
Tarrytown - “Assembly members, Senators and our staffs have been working day and night seven days a week for the last several weeks to help our communities survive this terrible pandemic and we have held hearings on its impact,” said Assemblyman Tom Abinanti. “All of these efforts have alerted us to the emergency changes to New York law that are necessary to repair the pandemic’s damage and give our neighbors the relief they need until we get back to normal and get everyone back to work.”
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins have announced that the two houses will schedule committee meetings for Tuesday, May 26 and session the days following. Both houses will follow strict social distancing measures and will utilize rules changes passed earlier in the year to permit web-based teleconferencing and video conferencing.
“As chair of the Assembly Banks Committee, I have been in continuous contact with the committee staff to help my constituents and those of other Assembly members who face issues with banks around the state,” said the Westchester Assemblyman. “We have also been discussing law changes necessitated by this health crisis –some of which we hope to pass this week – and others in the future.”
