JPMorgan Chase employees were allegedly caught on recordings denigrating wealthy black clients — including an ex-New York Giant — as scary and irresponsible.
Retired defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy recorded one Chase worker in Arizona allegedly suggesting he was “intimidating” because “they don’t see people like you a lot.”
“You’re bigger than the average person, period. And you’re also an African American,” financial adviser Charles Belton, who is also black, said in the recording.

“We’re in Arizona. I don’t have to tell you about what the demographics are in Arizona.”
On another soundbite, an ex-Chase bank boss allegedly suggested a black woman would blow a $372,000 settlement she received after her son’s death because she “didn’t earn it.”
“You’ve got somebody who’s coming from Section 8, never had a nickel to spend, and now she’s got $400,000,” Frank Venniro, who worked as a JPMorgan Chase executive director in the Phoenix area, said on the clip.

POLITICS: As the calendar flipped to 2020, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration backed a 1 percent rate cut for the Medicaid program, a move that will reduce payments in the program by hundreds of millions of dollars.

The development, announced with little fanfare in the State Register on New Year’s Eve, comes amid a $4 billion gap in the Medicaid program for the 2019-20 fiscal year and a $6.1 billion hole for the 2020-21 state fiscal year that begins April 1.

The rate cut will affect payments to hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, those who provide home-care services and managed-care plans in the program.....

GETTING WORSE: Standard & Poor downgraded Yonkers’ St. John’s Riverside Hospital’s revenue debt to “CCC+” from “B-,” due to the hospital’s continuing operating losses.

YONKERS: St. John's Riverside Hospital’s ‘CCC+’ rating and negative outlook reflect Standard & Poor’s view of SJRH’s extremely weak financial profile underlined

S&P listed St. John's Riverside Hospital’s persistent operating losses, extremely weak maximum annual debt service (MADS) coverage, and highly leveraged balance sheet that continues to deteriorate as factors in its further downgrade of the Yonkers healthcare provider.

S&P Global Ratings credit analyst #AamnaShah said, “In addition, liquidity is extremely thin, with just over 6 days’ cash on hand in fiscal 2018.”

An even lower rating is precluded at this time due to a pending $29 million NY Statewide Healthcare Facility Transformation grant award that management indicates will be used to retire its outstanding debt obligations.

Management anticipates the funding will be received in December 2019; however, if the funds to retire existing debt are not received, it is S&P’s opinion that the hospital’s financial commitments appear to be unsustainable in the long term, although the issuer may not face a near term (within 12 months) credit or payment crisis.

In August 2018, the hospital’s Board of Trustees approved of a resolution to begin negotiations to formally integrate into Montefiore Health System (Montefiore).

Management has indicated that SJRH is working with #Montefiore to discuss terms to execute on a letter of intent to join Montefiore.

There is still some uncertainty regarding timing; however, management has indicated that a formal affiliation could be possible in 2020.

S&P views the potential integration favorably as the partnership should bring synergies from both a financial and strategic perspective.....

JOURNAL NEWS: Westchester DA candidates spar over Yonkers cop who admitted perjury

MSNBC legal analyst Mimi Rocah called out the Westchester County district attorney over his reaction to a former #YonkersPD detective who pleaded guilty to perjury.

Mimi Rocah, who's facing incumbent DA #AnthonyScarpinoJr in a Democratic Party primary, said her opponent should disclose when he was notified about the allegations against #SeanFogarty, who admitted last week to lying about drugs found during a 2018 arrest of a #Bronx man.

#AnthonyScarpino announced his office would review cases involving #YPD Sean Fogarty on Dec. 26, the same day Fogarty’s pending guilty plea was reported by The Journal News/lohud.

Mimi Rocah, a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, questioned why Scarpino didn’t initiate a review earlier.

“Mr. Fogarty was removed from his position on the DEA’s Narcotics Task Force last year, and as a former federal prosecutor, I know that it is standard practice for law enforcement to share information on such removals with overlapping prosecutorial agencies,” Mimi Rocah said in a statement.

She said Anthony Scarpino should say whether his office has received any similar allegations against Sean Fogarty and whether Yonkers Police Department Detective Sean Fogarty was allowed to continue serving as a witness since the DA became aware of the allegations....

Detective Sean Fogarty is the son of the J.C. Fogarty restaurant owner based in the Village of Bronxville. Sean was a detective assigned to the Yonkers Police Department Narcotics and Gang Unit.

In 2012, testimony by YPD Detective Christopher Koch and Police Officer Neil Vera was proven false, particularly with respect to the Dario Tenor case. Koch and Vera perjured themselves in a court of law.

The court was lenient however, they each would come to serve jail time during weekends.
