Statement from Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.

Friends, 

This week, we celebrated Thanksgiving -- a holiday, more than any other holiday, that uniquely reflects who we are and what we stand for in Yonkers. Each one of us brings our own traditions and diverse cultures to the table. We look after one another, often extending a helping hand to our fellow neighbor.

I was overwhelmed this week by the generosity, support and kindness of our community when, despite any differences, we joined forces to donate over 800 Thanksgiving meals to Yonkers families in need. Thank you to Yonkers Contracting, Fidelis Care, ShopRite, Stop and Shop, Dr. Martin Sayegh, Valley Oil Co, Mayor’s African American Advisory Board, Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board, Yonkers Railsplitters and Yonkers MBK for their support in making Thanksgiving extra special for hundreds of Yonkers families. 

As we head into the holiday season, let us continue to remember to give of ourselves and serve those who may need an extra hand or just a simple smile to comfort them.
