This Week In The 90th Assembly District

Friends, This week has been quiet eventful here in Yonkers! Our office has been working closely with our constituents to help address issues, concerns and promote legislation. I am proud to have drafted a bill designed to allow for the placement of an insignia on a driver's license or a non-driver's identification card for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. According to studies, approximately 34% of all adults in the U.S. with autism spectrum disorder have driver's licenses. This legislation would require the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles to add a distinctive mark upon request, indicating that a driver has autism spectrum disorder. This would allow for medical professionals, members of law enforcement, and other members of the community to recognize that individuals with autism spectrum disorder may have an impediment that will keep them from communicating efficiently. I am working hard to push this legislation forward and am confident that this can change the lives of so many individuals. I had interviews this week by multiple news sources regarding this bill.
