Yonkers Insider Article: Yonkers Insider interviews Yonkers City Councilwoman, Shanae Williams, 1st District.

We went to Yonkers City Hall to interview Yonkers City Councilwoman Shanae Williams of the First District, we want to thank Councilwoman Williams for doing an interview with us and also thank her for always keeping us in the loop of her news and all that she does for the community in the First City Council District.

We did a wide ranging interview with Councilwoman Williams to discuss issues that matter to the Citizens in Yonkers and also in the 1st Yonkers City Council District.

We discussed the issue of Education and she wants to make sure that we continue the progress with our Education System and she always advocates to make sure that our students get the funding that they deserve for our Yonkers Public School System. Capital Budget in terms of our School System is very important on Councilwoman Williams Priority List.

Also the issue of our Quality of Life in our City, in terms of Yonkers Parks, She plans to work with our Yonkers Parks Commissioner as well as Mayor Spano to see ways to continue to make sure that our Quality of Life in terms of our Yonkers Parks is something that always improves for the better in our City. 

Also Councilwoman Williams wants to look at the Garbage Pails Experiment in our City of Yonkers as well.

Also she wants to start early discussing next year’s budget, due to next year being another tough budget year in our City. She wants to bring all the stakeholders to the table to bring solutions to the table to work together for the good of our City of Yonkers as well as our taxpayers as well as our students in our Yonkers Public Schools.

Councilwoman Williams wants to continue to work with Yonkers Police and Snug Program and others to help to continue to combat crime and keep crime down in our City. One of the issues that is very important to Councilwoman Williams is the issue of Illegal Guns on our Streets.Councilwoman Williams feels that the Federal Government should do more to keep  Illegal guns off of our streets.

She wants to work together and bring our stakeholders to the table to bring positive pro active solutions to help Yonkers get back to a Positive credit rating at Moody’s Credit Rating Agency.

Shanae also wants to keep our progress going on the Economic Development front in Yonkers. It is about working together and being one Yonkers for the betterment of our City of Yonkers.

In the future, she would like to bring some new initiatives to the table on the Yonkers City Council, issues like helping our Youth in a greater way in our City of Yonkers.

One of her biggest issues that she has advocated for, while on the Yonkers City Council has been Affordable Housing, she would like in the next term to discuss looking at the City of Yonkers Affordable Housing Ordinance to make it work better for our residents.

Also she wants to help Homeless in terms of Affordable Housing in our City of Yonkers.On the issue of Homelessness in our City of Yonkers, she wants to bring our stakeholders to the table and bring positive solutions to the table on the issue of Homelessness in Yonkers. 

While on the Yonkers City Council she has been a real leader on the issue of Homelessness.

At this time we need real solutions to help our Homeless Population in Yonkers, it is time for all of our leaders to come to the table for the good of our City and also the Homeless Population in Yonkers.

Councilwoman Williams has been one of the hardest working elected officials in Yonkers and is an inspiration to our Youth and to our City for her always being active in our City and also the 1st Yonkers City Council District, she is such a pleasure and an honor to cover in our Newspaper, Yonkers Insider.

Councilwoman Williams is on the November Ballot as a the Democratic Party Candidate after winning the June 25th Democratic Party Primary. Her Democratic Party Primary Opponent, is still on the Working Families Party Line.

Yonkers Insider
