Now that we are a week out post the democratic primary and we have all had some time to recover, I wanted to send out a formal and grateful thank you. I am honored that you, the residents of District 1, chose me as your Yonkers City Councilwoman for the next 4 years. Over the last year and a half, I have made it my mission to solve problems for the working families of District 1 and I will continue that work over the next four years. Together we can continue to build up Yonkers.
Thank you to everyone who voted in the primary, even if your vote was not for me. You did your duty and your voices were heard. I will continue to work hard for you to make sure you have a government that is inclusive, a government that stands up for you and provides the necessary resources so this city can thrive. Fighting for our children in our schools so they can have the tools and opportunities to excel, bringing more affordable housing to Yonkers, and improving the quality of life of the residents of the 1st district are my top priorities and I will not stop working on these issues.
To my opponent Terence Miller you were a good candidate and you ran a good race, so congratulations to you. I hope you will remain present in the community and work with me to strengthen our community. I will be happy to sit down with you and work on the issues that you were so passionate about as they are equally important to me.
Again, to all my volunteers that I met along the way, to all who donated to my campaign, to every single supporter, I thank you. I will work my hardest to deliver for you.
Lastly, please remember the primary may be over but we still have to exercise our right to vote in the general election on November 5, 2019. I hope to have your support at the polls once again.
Sincerely,
Shanae Williams
Yonkers Councilwoman District 1
