 On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Yonkers City Council held a Special City Council meeting. All items on the agenda appear below, as well as the decisions taken by the City Council in regard to these items.



Special City Council Meeting

 

1. Local Law – amending parts of Article IV of Chapter 15 of the Code of the City of Yonkers entitled Sales and Use Tax to conform to the 2025 amendments of the New York State tax law (Positive fiscal impact.) (All Councilmembers.) (Adopted 5-0)

2. Local Law – amending section 15-141 of the Code of the City of Yonkers in relation to extending the City of Yonkers Mortgage Recording Tax to conform to the 2025 amendments of the New York State tax law. (Adopted 6-0)

3. Local Law – amending section 15-141 of the Code of the City of Yonkers in relation to extending the City of Yonkers Income Tax Surcharge to conform to the 2025 amendments of the New York state tax law. (Adopted 6-0)

4. Special Ordinance – authorizing the acceptance of the Summer Youth Employment Program grant from the Westchester County Youth Bureau in the amount of $16,667.67 and amending the City of Yonkers grant budget for fiscal year 2025-2026. (Adopted 6-0)

5. Special Ordinance – authorizing acceptance of the Sexual Risk and Awareness grant from the Westchester County Youth Bureau in the amount of $32,602.00 and amending the City of Yonkers grant budget for fiscal year 2025-2026. (Adopted 6-0)

6. Resolution – approving an Inter-Municipal Agreement between the County of Westchester and the City of Yonkers and the provision of a youth employment program through the city’s Youth Bureau. (Adopted 6-0)

7. Resolution – authorizing the Mayor to execute an Inter-Municipal Agreement with Westchester County for the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education program. (Adopted 6-0)

8. Resolution authorizing application for NYS Department of State’s Smart Growth Community Planning program for the South Broadway area plan and zoning updates (Adopted 6-0)

9. Resolution authorizing application for a New York State Climate Smart Communities grant for food scrap collection (Adopted 6-0)

10. Resolution to accept gift of artwork from Blue Door Art Center (Adopted 6-0)

11. Resolution - Commissioner of Deeds (Adopted 6-0)
