County Legislator and Democratic Vice Chair Jose Alvarado Endorses Alberto Velazquez for City Council District 2.
Yonkers, NY – Westchester County Legislator and Democratic Party Vice Chair Jose Alvarado has announced his endorsement of Alberto Velazquez for Yonkers City Council District 2, highlighting Velazquez’s deep community roots and commitment to public service.
“Alberto Velazquez is a fighter for our community,” said Legislator Alvarado. “He has spent his life serving the people of Yonkers—as an educator, a union advocate, and a neighbor who shows up when it matters most. He understands the challenges families face because he’s lived them. I’m proud to endorse him for City Council and confident that he will lead with integrity, compassion, and purpose.”
Velazquez, a 26-year employee of Yonkers Public Schools and the Democratic-endorsed candidate, has built his campaign on priorities such as safer streets, affordable housing, stronger schools, and local economic development that supports working families.
“I’m honored to have the support of Legislator Alvarado,” said Velazquez. “His leadership and advocacy have made a real difference in Yonkers. I look forward to working with him to bring lasting change to District 2.”
The Democratic Primary Election for City Council District 2 takes place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
