Yonkers Insider Article: Yonkers City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy calls for a Delay in Redistricting.

 

Late in the Day, Yonkers City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy issued a Press Release calls for a delay in the Redistricting. 

This Week, The Yonkers City Council had held two Town Hall Forums on the Redistricting at Riverfront Library and Grinton Will Library. At those Meetings, there seemed to be a Clear Majority opposed to the Current Redistricting Map for the Yonkers City Council. 

The Redistricting has to occur every ten years due to results of the Census. Westchester County Board of Elections needs The New Yonkers City Council District Maps by February 15th, since Petitioning Process in Yonkers starts on Feburary 28th. 

We Applaud Council President Collins-Bellamy on calling for a Delay of the Redistricting.  This shows real Leadership in our view. A very important note is that the Citizens of Yonkers are very Engaged on this issue and the Public is also very engaged on the Upcoming City of Yonkers Elections this year as well.
