YONKERS, NY – August 7, 2020 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the city’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will pick up storm debris from residents caused by Tropical Storm Isaias.
“The aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias created many concerns for homeowners including a mess in their front and backyards,” said Mayor Spano. “That’s why I will have our Department of Public Works make a special pick up to collect storm debris over the weekend. The Organic Yard will have extended hours to allow residents the opportunity to get rid of debris to allow their property to return to its full beauty.”
Starting tomorrow, DPW Sanitation and Street Maintenance Crews will be out over the weekend to pick up residential storm debris such as organic yard waste, twigs, branches and small tree clippings, small cut up logs (3-4 foot in length tied in a bundle), and raked debris (preferably tied).
The Organic Yard will also operate under extended hours this weekend (Saturday, 7 AM – 8 PM and Sunday, 7 AM -5 PM) to give residents another opportunity to dispose of storm debris.
