Friends,
This week, I congratulated our Yonkers Office of the Aging (YOFA) and the Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) on securing the New York State Office for the Aging Grant entitled NNORC (Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community).
The $1 million five-year grant will help coordinate a broad range of health and social services for older residents to age in their own homes/ apartments, in the community that they love.
This grant gives our city an opportunity to expand on the many services we provide for our seniors yet cater to their unique needs of those who chose not to leave their home.
Thank you to New York State Office for the Aging, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Westchester Jewish Community Services for their support in providing for this growing population of our community.
Yonkers is the first municipality in Westchester County to be awarded a NNORC grant!
MIKE SPANO
Mayor
