Volume IX | May 24, 2019 ‌ ‌ ‌ This Week in the 90th Assembly District. From the Assemblyman Dear Friends, I hope you and your families had a wonderful week! This week was very eventful both in Albany and back home in Yonkers. The end of session is around the corner and I am fighting for our city! Up in Albany we celebrated different cultures, worked tirelessly to best serve our constituents and the people of New York State and even played some ball! Later in the week, Yonkers continued to keep us all on our feet with so many great events and celebrations. This month we celebrated Jordanian Independence Day and our great city of Yonkers held a Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall. The Yonkers Arts Weekend came to an end. A huge thank you to everyone involved! I look forward to next year. The Yonkers Public Library hosted its Annual Spring Gala at the Riverfront Library this week! My staff had a wonderful time celebrating. As an educator, I am so proud of our city, my fellow educators and our students. The children continue to excel and this is a true testament to the teachers and staff in our schools. This Memorial Day, I'd like to thank all of the men and women who have served our nation. Your fearlessness and dedication to our country is admirable and we are all grateful for you. I hope you and your families have a safe and blessed Memorial Day. Enjoy your weekend! Best, Nader J. Sayegh NYS Assemblyman, 90th District Week in Review Yonkers Art Weekend was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who participated and worked so hard, bringing culture and the arts together for our great city. With Fr. David Cowan at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church for the blessing of the Yonkers First Responders and emergency vehicles. The City of Yonkers commemorated the 73rd Anniversary of the Independence of Jordan by raising the Jordanian flag at City Hall. We recognize those who fought for Jordanian independence and celebrate the rich culture and influence our community has on Yonkers. I am so proud to be a Jordanian-American and thank the City of Yonkers and Mayor Mike Spano for such A wonderful event! A big congratulations to this year's honorees, Detective Lieutenant Kal Nassar and Joy Al-Nemri The Youth Advisory Board awarded four high school students with the Top High School Youth Service Award. My office was proud to join Mayor Mike Spano in recognizing these future leaders! Krysten Jackson, Jaylene Anderson, Mia Diaz and David Armah. Keep up the good work! This month, The Kahlil Gibran School was nominated as school of the month here in Yonkers! Congratulations to all of the staff and students. I was proud to contribute! At Your State Capitol This Week On Monday May, 20th we celebrated Haitan Heritage day up in Albany! Such A great event honoring a rich culture. The Lexington School and Center for the Deaf had its 23rd Annual Esther Lustig Memorial basketball Game on Tuesday. I look forward to attending each year! Hopefully next year I will join the members and play some ball! At the State Capitol, we also celebrated Taiwan Heritage Day in New York! Memorial Day! Happy Memorial Day! Memorial Day is a day we, as a country, come together to honor and remember our servicemen and women who served our great nation, making the ultimate sacrifice. This day is a time for us to say Thank you as we remember how grateful we are for their service. I want to personally thank all of those who have served for our country, we are forever indebted to you. May God Bless you all.
