New Yorkers can subscribe to NY-Alert for critical information and emergency alerts in their area. NY-Alert notifications include information about severe weather warnings, significant highway closures, hazardous material spills, and other emergency conditions, as well as instructions and recommendations in real-time by emergency personnel.
All areas of New York State are included in the system, and you can decide which area you would like to receive alerts about. Messages can be received by phone, email, text and fax. Signing up is free, at alert.ny.gov.
