Assemblyman Sayegh was interviewed this week by Work-Bites.com reporter Robert Hennelly regarding legislation to ensure all workers and civilians who are eligible for World Trade Center (WTC) Victims’ Health Coverage are informed about it and are able to receive it.
More than 20 years after the 9/11 terrorist attack, some construction workers involved in the cleanup of the WTC and people who lived and/or worked in the vicinity at the time are still developing and battling health complications as a result of being exposed to toxins released when the Twin Towers collapsed. Sadly, thousands who are eligible for health care benefits have not signed up.
The legislation would require employers to contact all workers who returned to the area after the attack.
