My recently mailed 2023 Spring Constituent Survey closely aligns with the major public policy issues presently being debated at the State Capitol in the budget negotiations process.
At the forefront of the negotiations between the Governor, Assembly and Senate, is the need to fix Bail Reform, so that violent criminals and repeat offenders are kept off our streets.
The issues impacting Affordable Housing are also a major concern. While I support the need for more affordable housing, I am strongly opposed to proposals which override Local Zoning Regulations.
I am confident that the Governor will hear our loud voices and modify the plan to exclude single family zone neighborhoods!
Also impacting us is the current injustice in our society in which people disrespect those who do not look, think or believe like them. That's why I was proud to re-introduce by resolution which recognizes the diversity of one of our largest ascendant communities, the Arab American community. I also understand injustice continues even today in many parts of the world which must not be ignored.
I was proud to sponsor a resolution this week, which was adopted, proclaiming April Celebration of Diversity Month in New York State. I invite you to view to my remarks in the Assembly on Celebrating Diversity, and share them if you wish. |
