Westchester Insider: New York State Senator Pete Harckham 40th District: Protecting Women’s Health—and Their Rights.

 

The U.S. Supreme Court is signaling that it will target protections guaranteed to women regarding their health, their bodies, their choice in the landmark Roe v. Wade court decision.

And although nearly 60% of Americans oppose overturning Roe v. Wade, the conservative minority is getting closer to ending a woman’s right to choose.

I successfully cosponsored New York’s Reproductive Health Act, enacted in 2019, which codifies Roe v. Wade in the state and ensures that women maintain their rights to making decisions about their health.

But the fight is not over, obviously.

A recent disruptive incident at a White Plains women’s health clinic proves that the fanatics opposing women’s rights are becoming increasingly emboldened.  

We need to keep pro-choice Democrats in office here in New York. It is as simple as that.
