Yonkers Insider: City of Yonkers: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH.

October is a time to acknowledge domestic violence survivors and be a voice for its victims.  Domestic violence is prevalent in every community, and affects all people regardless of age, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion or nationality.  Domestic violence can result in physical injury, psychological trauma and even death.  The devastating consequences of domestic violence can last a lifetime.

Everyone can help raise awareness about domestic violence.  October (and every month) is a chance for anyone and everyone to unite in the work to end domestic violence.
If you or someone you know needs help, please contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at https://www.thehotline.org/ (chat feature is available);
call (800)799-7233 or TTY 1 (800) 787-3224; or text "START" to 88788.

The Yonkers Clock Tower will remain lit purple for the month of October.
