Yonkers Insider: Westchester County Legislator Kitley Covill: NYSEG update.

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

I am writing this email as an update from yesterday afternoon’s NYSEG call today for elected officials and municipal leaders.  This is the fourth day of these calls.  NYSEG is reporting that they believe that every customer will be restored by 11 pm on Monday, August 10.  NYSEG appears to have secured enough dry ice that every municipality is able to pick up enough dry ice for residents.

We know that many people are finally getting power.  NYSEG listened to the municipal officials and updated ETRs with more realistic time frames for those who remain without power.

On this call the Division Director from the Department of Public Safety was on the call and repeatedly requested that he be updated on specific areas of concern cited by local officials.   NYSEG continues to get mutual aid from other states and from upstate.

Some people have reported that they had power and then they lost power.  In order to repair some local lines power needs to be de-energized.  Once the repair to a local line is completed power will again be restored to those who had it before.

Additionally in at least one area in the Bedford Hills/Katonah zone a large tree was on the verge of falling and NYSEG immediately cabled it for the night and then took it down during the day, which necessitated a large number of customer outages for a time.

Please email me if you have any information to share.  Based on the call yesterday and emails I have received, it appears that most people are finally getting power and the spur lines are now receiving attention.

Please let me know if NYSEG’s ETR given for your home has come and gone, yet you remain without power, or if you are seeing your neighbor’s lights on but your house remains dark.  I will find out what is going on and let you know.

While we will have another municipal call tomorrow afternoon, I expect it to be a “wrap-up” call and will update this email if there is anything new to report.
