Now, that might not be how you'd typically describe a judicial candidate, but since we cannot get to know each other in person, we wanted to share a bit about ourselves.

Soon you'll be receiving a Application for an Absentee Ballot. This year Yonkers residents have the unique opportunity to vote for THREE City Court Judges.

We encourage you to return this application and considering casting your THREE VOTES for these fine candidates.

There are many sides to our candidates, but there one thing they share that is very clear -- they all love the rich city of Yonkers that we call home, and are dedicated to making it be the absolute best it can be.

Judge Tom Daly...

- has 20 years on the bench in Yonkers City Court
- has 30 years legal experience

And in his spare time:

is a major history buff. He has a deep passion for American history, and is a member of the Brigade of the American Revolution - an organization dedicated to the recreation of the life of the common soldier of the American Revolution.
has 2 daughters and has been married for over 38 years. He is a true family man!
has been a member of dozens of organizations and clubs in Yonkers over the past 30 years.
is quite the singer, and was even a member of the Yonkers Male Glee Club.
he has been honored by the Exchange Club of Yonkers, the Yonkers Citadel, the Yonkers Historical Society and more.

Attorney Verris B. Shako

- has 15 years legal experience in Yonkers City Court
- has 10+ years legal experience in Family Court

And in her spare time:

has 2 young children with her husband of 11 years, and is currently juggling managing her own practice, raising a family, homeschooling, AND virtual campaigning.
is a Yonkers Public School Class Parent in both of her children's schools, and is an active PTA member.
has been a proud supporter of fellow Democratic candidates and actively works to progress the party.
has spent her career practicing in the courts, aspiring to be like the strong female judges before whom she practiced.
is a big supporter of the Yonkers Public Library system and their enriching programs.
Pre-COVID-19, was an active Co-Leader of Yonkers Girl Scouts Troop #1817.

Judge Brendan McGrath

- has served 30+ years in public service at the state, county and city level; including 20 years as an attorney
- was appointed Yonkers City Court Judge by Mayor Mike Spano

And in his spare time:

has a twin sister, is the 5th out of 6 children and has 27 first cousins!
is the proud dad of 2 teenagers including a college student, and they're all currently sharing a household again.
enjoys volunteer coaching as much as he can, for his children's sports teams, mostly basketball and baseball.
is happy to say he's finally mastered ZOOM and has been taking calls with court employees to check in however possible.
